Becoming Sons is Christian metal band from San Antonio, Texas formed in 2015 by founding members Roger Stack and Brian Derby. They have developed a signature sound they call "metalpraisecore", which blends metalcore, thrash, and melodic hooks with spiritual themes of hope and redemption. The band's name is inspired by Romans 8:12–14, reflecting a focus on spiritual transformation. Becoming Sons aim to be a "message of hope to the hopeless" through high-energy live performances that often include audience participation.
In 2020, their single "Illuminate" reached #1 on the Loud CMW (Christian Music Weekly) chart for 16 consecutive weeks. Recent releases include a metal cover of "Hark! The Herald Angels Scream" for the 2024/2025 holiday season, which also reached #1 on the CMW Christmas chart for 2 weeks in January of 2025. Their latest single titled "Hidden Truth" has just reached the #1 spot again on the CMW "Metal/Loud" on February 25, 2026. With three #1 singles on their resume, the band's upcoming new EP titled "Refined by the Flames" is one of the most anticipated releases of 2026. The EP releases March 13, 2026 on Resurrection Records with physical distribution through Roxx Records worldwide.

I have known about BS for several years now, as the band has been diligently working the south Texas music scene with their blend of heavy riffs, intertwined melody & ministry. Yet, despite their own challenges via line-up changes, a defined market & maneuvering the scene the band has managed to weather the storm & garnish a reputable fan base & release their BEST effort yet, as RBTF is undoubtedly the band's redemption. OFFICIALLY out NEXT WEEK on March 13th, 2026 (via Resurrection/Roxx Records), RFTB is a hard hitting 8-song montage of heavy drums, huge breakdowns, monstrous dual vocal attacks & electrifying lead playing. Produced by the distinguished, Fernando Lemus, its powerful consignment initially took me aback & I quickly realized that Becoming Sons had come of age & that it was FINALLY time to showcase them on our program. SO, on February 21st, founding members, drummer Roger Stack, bassist, Brian Derby & guitarist/vocalist, Marcus Allen visited the RMW Studio for an in-depth chat.
